- Does the RaceDeck®
flooring attach to my garage floor?
No. RaceDeck®
flooring is a "floating" system, which means that it is designed
to be installed on level, hard surfaces. Specifically designed to be
installed over concrete, however it can be used over carpet, wood and other
level, hard load bearing surfaces. RaceDeck®
flooring does not require any surface preparation before installing and
no
glue, tape or adhesives are needed. An average two-car garage takes
approximately an hour to install.
2. Can I cut and trim the RaceDeck®
flooring?
Yes. All RaceDeck®
polypropylene (PPV) flooring (Diamond®, CircleTrac®, FastDeck® and
FreeFlow®) can easily be cut to fit. We recommend several ways to cut
the flooring, one is if you are only cutting
a few tiles in a straight line, get a commercial grade utility knife and a
straight edge, then "score" the tile a few times, bend it, and then make one more
clean cut. Second, for cutting several times we recommend using a table saw
or "chop" saw with a Fine Tooth blade of at least 32-teeth or more to get a nice
clean cut. And then finally, to make curved or angles cuts we
recommend a band saw. DuraGrid®, our rubberized flooring is easily cut
with scissor or
sheers. Also, remember to keep a 1/4" gap between the RaceDeck®
flooring and the adjoining wall, this allows the flooring to
expand and contract to avoid "buckling".
3. Can I drive my car or truck on the
RaceDeck® flooring?
Yes. Our RaceDeck®
Diamond®, CircleTrac®, FastDeck® and FreeFlow® polypropylene
flooring, all solid
surface flooring, are strong, durable and designed for heavy "rolling" loads
in excess of 25,000 lbs. capacity on any hard level surface and over 2,000
lbs P.S.I. crush strength. RaceDeck®
PPV
flooring are the strongest, toughest and best warranted modular
flooring tiles on the market. Our
DuraGrid® rubberized flooring is designed for pedestrian traffic only where
anti-slip cushioned characteristics are required, such as pool decks, in
front of workbenches, shower areas, etc.
4. Does dirt and liquid get trapped
between the seams and under the RaceDeck®
flooring?
Maybe. This answer is
not clear cut for the following reasons. The seams on our RaceDeck®
Diamond®, FastDeck® and CircleTrac® polypropylene flooring are not "water tight" but almost, and therefore dirt and
liquid seepage can occur. The flooring can easily be hosed off, power-washed
or power blown
to clean any surface liquids or dirt. Any water that seeps between the
seams will drain naturally with the slope of the surface the flooring is
installed on because the base of the tiles are designed with
"channels" so as to not restrict the flow of liquids. Also, there is
enough air-flow under the floor to allow natural evaporation of any
"pooling" areas.
5. How do I clean the RaceDeck®
flooring?
The flooring can
easily be hosed off, power-washed or power blown to clean any surface liquids or dirt
off. For stubborn stains such as grease or oil, wipe as much of the spill
off the floor with a paper towel or cloth and then use a mild detergent,
Windex™, Greased Lightning™ or other similar product to work the stain out.
Because the Diamond®, CircleTrac®, FastDeck® and FreeFlow® flooring is
polypropylene, which is highly resistant to stains, most cleanup efforts are
performed easily.
6. Can I replace a RaceDeck®
tile in the middle of my floor without pulling up a lot of tiles?
Yes. You can replace
just one tile without pulling up tiles from the edge assuming the tile to be replaced is "damaged" and therefore
will be discarded. You will cut or drill a hole in the tile large enough
to insert a screw driver tip to
grab the tile and pop it out and then install your new tile without popping
up tiles. If you need to replace the tile because of color and you want to
keep the replaced tile, you will have to pull up tiles from the nearest edge
to get that tile up.
7. Is there a RaceDeck®
product that covers up the exposed concrete on the "tire bump"
area
between the main floor and elevated floor?
No. RaceDeck®
does not offer a product for this application. What we have
found that works well is to get a premium grade Epoxy paint that
either matches or contrasts with your RaceDeck® flooring
and paint the exposed "tire bump" or side wall exposed concrete areas. Since car traffic should
not come into contact with this exposed area the Epoxy should last for quite
a while.
8. I have a workshop where I work on
cars and trucks, will the RaceDeck® flooring
hold up in this environment?
Yes. RaceDeck®
flooring has a 15-year limited warranty and it is meant to last.
Heavy tool cabinets, creepers, floor jacks and other systems on wheels will
not effect the flooring. Where you need to be careful is with sharp-edged
jack stands. Put something under the jack stand to spread the load so that
you don't put a "print" in the floor. Also, if you are going to do any
welding on the RaceDeck® flooring, put a
fabric blanket over it so you don't damage the flooring. And if your shop
is located so that cars and trucks are "turning" the front wheels with the
vehicle stopped, and the vehicle is heavy, such as a Ford F250 or Chevy
2500, you can "pop" tiles out. The reason is with that much weight on top
of a tile and not being a "rolling load" the tile is fighting the vehicle
and the vehicle usually wins. All straight-in and straight-out situations
will not be a problem.
9.
Can
RaceDeck®
"FreeFlow®" or "DuraGrid®" flooring be used around pool and hot tub areas?
Would one be safer than the other and why?
RaceDeck®
"FreeFlow®", made from
polypropylene (PPV), is a grooved,
patterned flooring that is ideal for outdoor applications such as special
events on non-sloping grass grades, and other areas requiring flooring that
provides support.
"FreeFlow®" would NOT be
recommended for wet areas where a "non-slip" flooring is needed because it
is not rated as a "non-slip" flooring and can become slippery when wet.
"DuraGrid®" is a rubberized product
and a "non-slip" rated flooring that has been designed as an anti-slip,
safety mat, anti-stress flooring with an acceptable slip coefficient rating
in both dry and wet environments. "DuraGrid®" would be your flooring
of choice for wet environments such as pools and hot tubs.
